Our Controlled Bolting services include Hydraulic/Manual Torquing and Hydraulic Stud Tensioning. With our highly trained team of certified journeyman and apprentices, we ensure that all procedures, engineering specifications, and safety protocol are strictly adhered to and achieved.
We supply controlled bolting crews for facility construction, pipeline, drilling rigs, frac, wellheads, shutdowns, vessels, manways and much more.
Stud/Bolt Torquing is the process of stretching a stud/bolt on a connection to a predetermined load as designated by either the on-site engineer or the gasket manufacturer. This load is achieved with our hydraulic/manual tools turning the nut attached to the stud/bolt thus placing the load on the stud/bolt.
With our high-quality slim profile and square drive tooling and highly trained and skilled technicians, we safely and efficiently accommodate all hydraulic torquing needs.
Our hydraulic and manual torquing crews come standard with a fully tooled torquing unit complete with independent power source and dual tooling for all torquing applications. We also have a two-man technician crew consisting of a certified and trained lead and helper.
Employee safety is the most critical part of torquing operations. Our in-house hydraulic torque training will provide your employees with all the knowledge and skill required to perform safe use and operation of our torquing equipment. Your team will learn how to operate our equipment in a safe and effective manner, as well as controlling all related hazards. You will be taught hazards, basic troubleshooting, proper tool selection, basic torquing procedures and safe operation of our tool line-up. Upon completion, you will receive certification of completion of training and will have sufficient knowledge to safely perform torquing operations with our tooling.
Hydraulic Stud/Bolt Tensioning uses the same core concept of stud/bolt stretching as torquing with several key differences:
Hydraulic Tensioners achieve bolt load by installing the tensioner directly onto the threads of the stud/bolt, allowing the cylinders to place the hydraulic pressure on the flange to the predetermined load. This allows the nut to spin freely on the already stretched stud which greatly reduces the friction that is present in hydraulic/manual torquing, making tensioning highly accurate.
With stud/bolt tensioning coverage available up to 50%, hydraulic tensioners have a much more uniform pull, making them the controlled bolting service of choice for compressors and any critical applications where little to no pipe strain can be tolerated.
Due to the 50% coverage of hydraulic stud/bolt tensioning, finalized connections are achieved with less time than hydraulic/manual torquing, especially on connections of 30” NPS and up.
Our hydraulic stud/bolt tensioning crews come standard with a fully tooled tensioning unit, complete with an independent power source and all requested tensioning sets for 50% coverage, as well as a two-man technician crew consisting of a certified and trained lead and helper. All tensioning calculations are supplied by Top Notch Torque using a highly engineered calculation program designed to deliver the highest bolt-load accuracy possible.
Pneumatic cold cutting is the preferred method for cutting pipe in areas where oxygen-deficient or explosive atmospheres may be present, and sparks/flame cannot be used.
With our pneumatic cutters, we can simultaneously sever and bevel piping up to 60” NPS of all schedules/wall thickness.
With these slim-profile clamshells, we achieve a consistently uniform and accurate cut, with all desired pipe end preps for welding that include J-bevels, compound bevels, sever cuts and any other end prep requested.
Our pneumatic cold cut crews come standard with a fully tooled cold cutting unit complete with air compressor and clamshells/blades of all sizes requested, as well as a two-man technician crew consisting of a certified and trained lead and helper.
Useful for many applications involving hydrotesting welds, our mechanical hydrostatic test plugs provide a safe, time-efficient, non-destructive means of isolating a weld and hydrotesting up to 10 000 PSI and NPS up to 30” without having to isolate entire systems.
Due to their ability to isolate small areas of your piping system, these plugs are the most economic hydrotest solution for welds as they can test individual flange welds, o-lets and small segments of most systems.
When welding on an existing system, flammable and harmful gases and vapour may exist. Our mechanical isolation plugs can safely and effectively isolate systems upstream and downstream up to 24” NPS, ensuring you and your welders' safety.
Our mechanical test and isolation plug crews come standard with a fully tooled unit tailored to your desired application and include a two-man crew consisting of a certified and trained lead and helper.
With our extensive team of highly trained journeyman and apprentice steamfitter-pipefitters, we can accommodate labour support for any project you may have. Whether you require manpower for large turnarounds/facility projects, maintenance, or any other oil and gas endeavour, our team can provide high quality manpower including pickup trucks and basic tooling.
We have a highly experienced, dedicated team of technicians to assist in your frac operations. Whether you need manpower for greasing or require higher experience to lead frac operations, our dedicated technicians are available to ensure your operations are completed professionally and safely.
